LES AMIS DU RUISSEAU BOUCHARD
Building on previous projects such as Allo Ruisseau and J’Adopte une cours d’eau, our current project portfolio is focused on the Les amis du ruisseau Bouchard program, including the development of a Digital Twin of the Bouchard watershed and opportunities regarding redevelopment at 200 Bouchard. This portfolio represents over $2 million of financial and in-kind funding for projects from 2024 ro 2029.
In partnership with GRAME, Comité Zip Jacques-Cartier, Les Ateliers Ublo, Université Laval and all our community and government supporters we are actively engaged to:
- Increase knowledge about the health of the creek
- Enhance the health of Bouchard Creek
- Engage local businesses, schools and citizens in protection of the creek
- Ensure the sharing and repeatability of our projects by othe
The goal of the project is to improve the overall health of the creek by engaging and mobilizing local stakeholders, including property owners, the community (citizens, businesses, and schools), and public authorities.
Objective 1: Improving knowledge about the health of Bouchard Creek.
- Ecological characterization of the stream (fauna, flora, sediments, and contaminants).
- Characterization of runoff dynamics in the watershed and creation of redevelopment plans for restoration and greening efforts.
- Creation of a 3D digital twin of the watershed based on a prototype.
- Installation of a probe to monitor contaminants in the water.
- Database and mapping of municipal lots.
Objective 2: Improving the health of Bouchard Creek.
- Greening and restoration projects along the creek and in the watershed.
- Creek cleanup operations (collection of waste on the banks).
Objective 3: Community engagement and awareness in protecting Bouchard Creek.
- Creation of a reusable guide for recruiting volunteer groups for cleanup operations (ensuring volunteer diversity and the adoption of best practices).
- The College Saint-Anne schools will be involved in an educational program about the creek for young people (creation of 3D models and a mural) and the creation of the first Community Council for Bouchard Creek.
- Increased efforts to raise awareness among property owners along the creek about best practices to adopt.
- New businesses can obtain Friends of the Bouchard Creek qualifications by carrying out greening activities or cleanup operations.
- Awareness videos about Bouchard Creek will be made available to the public.
.Objective 4: Facilitate the reproducibility and outreach of the project.
- Creation of a website publishing the project’s learnings, data, reusable guides for organizing cleanups and a guide for teachers, and access to the Bouchard digital twin.
